Duane Meier - Lincoln KS

Duane Meier, 80, was a farmer/stockman in Lincoln County all his life, save two years in the Army during the Korean War period. He was lucky enough to be assigned to the 112th Regiment, 28th Infantry Division on occupation duty in Germany.
He was a life-long member of the Lincoln VFW and was Past-Commander of that club.
Duane is survived by his wife, Jo Ann nee Weaver; three sons: Tim and his wife Vicki of Lincoln, Scott and Tracey Foreman of Lincoln, and Bud Davis of Canton; three daughters: Pam Meier of Downs, LaJuana Jo Colgin and her husband Mile of Canton, and LaRonda Brown of McPherson; one brother: Arvin Meier of Lincoln; a sister: Arlene Choitz of Ellsworth; eleven grandchildren: Billy Meier, Rita Charlson, Bryan Meier, Breanna Meier, Hunter Meier, Brock Davis, Brittnay Davis, Alicia Dose, Mandy Moran, Lindsay Brown, and Tina Brown; and fourteen great-grandchildren: Joseph Meier, Logan Meier, Gage Meier, Caleb Meier, Lexus Haring, Jax Charlson, Hannah Behrens, Mckayla Meier, Kenyon Moran, Jalen Moran, Grace Lucy, Marley Jo Knowles, Tisha Brown, and Tegan Brown.
He was preceded in death by his parents: August and Valeria (Wacker) Meier; two brothers: Arthur and Rudolph Meier; two sisters: Alvira Choitz and Lucia Behrens; a grandson Jason Huiting and a granddaughter Jaime Huiting.
Funeral services: Thursday, 7 July 2011 at St John Lutheran Church and burial in the church's cemetery. Visitation: Wednesday, 6 July from 1 to 7 PM at Hall Chapel. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln County Hospital.
