Dr. Eldon Breazier - Kingman KS

Dr. Eldon Earl Breazier, 87, of Kingman, KS, passed away at the Kingman Community Hospital on Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Eldon was preceded in death by his sister Lois Stapleford. He is survived by his wife, Roya Breazier of Kingman, daughter Elizabeth Clair (Lonnie) of Madison, MO, son Steven Breazier (Chris) of Pender, NE, grandchildren Nathan and Paula Clair and Erin Nylander, brother-in-law Robert Stapleford, sister-in-law Marilyn Nesting, and three nephews. Born in Lincoln, KS, on September 11, 1923, Eldon graduated from Lincoln High School in 1941. He received his first teaching degree from Emporia State Teachers College, and a Masters degree and Dr. of Education degree from Kansas University. During WWII Eldon served in the Army Air Corps, flying P-38 fighters in the Pacific theater and serving as a flight instructor. Eldon married Roya Bush on April 21, 1944, and they enjoyed nearly 67 years of life together. Eldon was a life-long educator. Over the years he served in public education as a math-science teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and director of curriculum. He served at Tarkio College, in Tarkio MO, in various positions including head of the Education Department, Professor of Education, Academic Dean, Chancellor and as President. In 1978 Eldon came to Kingman as Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Since retirement, Eldon has enjoyed repairing and servicing computers and audio-visual equipment, and pursuing hobbies such as fishing, building and flying model airplanes, photography, and traveling with Roya. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the friends and neighbors who have encouraged and supported Eldon and Roya through the years. A service in memory of Eldon and to honor both him and Roya will be held at 2:00 P.M., June 10, 2011, at the United Methodist Church in Kingman, KS. Friends and family are invited to attend and share their thoughts and memories.
