Winnifred Kissick - Upland CA

   Winnifred Watson Kissick, age 97, died April 5, 2011, in Upland,CA, where she lived for over 70 years. She was born August 19, 1913. She was married for 45 years to Carroll Kissick who died in 1980. Winnie was the oldest of seven children born to Phyllis Vaughn Moffitt and Chester Watson. She was the niece of Christine Moffitt who resided in Lincoln. Her only surviving sibling is Mrs. Ruth Haigh of CA. Mrs. Kissick is further survived by a large family, including a son, DeVaughn Kissick of Upland, and a daughter and son-in-law, Victory and Ralph Allan of Irvine, CA. She also has two grandsons, William Allan of the Webb School, Claremont, CA and Douglas Allan and wife, Stephanie of Irvine. She leaves nieces, Royce Jeane Downey of Laguna Niguel, Julie Geach of Pomona, Katie Gaylord of Apple Valley, Dr. Peggy Haigh of Rancho Cucamonga, Connie Ruth Hill of Iowa and Delberta Ruth Lind of Andale, KS. There are many great nieces and nephews and many great, great nieces and nephews.

   During her years in Upland she was active in many organizations. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was Sunday school teacher, a deacon and a member of the session and president of United Presbyterian Women. Presbyterian Mariners was an important part of church life for both Bill and Winnie Kissick.

   Mrs. Kissick was a member of the San Antonio Chapter of the DAR. With the DAR she was co-chair of the 50th anniversary celebration of the Madonna of Trail. She was active in Church Women United. She was member of the Upland Women's Club. She was also a board member of the Salvation Army.

    Everyone in the family mourns her loss but also knows that family continues, as the latest family member was born just hours before Mrs. Kissick's death.

   Graveside services will be Saturday, April 14, 2012, at Beverly Cemetery.

   Donations in her memory can be made to First Presbyterian Church of Upland, CA or National DAR Scholarship fund.
